Preparing for River Rafting the Colorado River in Moab, Utah

So, you're headed for the river! It's time to get ready. Here are a few simple things to know:

  • Colorado River day trips in Moab, Utah (Morning Half Day, Mid-day, and Full Day Adventures - a.k.a. "The Daily Stretch") are a ton of fun - and a scenic treasure like nothing else. The ride itself is typically a Class I-II adventure, and sometimes a thrilling Class III in higher water years. There's no dam that controls these waters, so ask the staff at the front desk, or call them at 866-904-1163 to get the latest on river conditions.
  • Westwater Canyon on the Colorado River, just upstream of the "Daily Stretch" (as mentioned above) is also a ton of fun, but in many ways just the opposite as far as ride goes! In typical river flows this section of river is the ultimate one-day whitewater rafting trip in the west (according to National Geographic Adventurer Magazine). Westwater is serious whitewater spills and thrills! Preparing for this adventure won't require any additional equipment beyond what we will provide.

The infographic below should help with every item you'll need to be "ready for the river".
