Overview: Understanding Canyonlands Vastness

Canyonlands National Park is one of the largest in the United State's park system. It is divided into four distinct districts: The Maze, Needles, Island in the Sky, and River District where river rafting expeditions tour all 100 miles of the Colorado River through the heart of Canyonlands. Island in the Sky is the closest and most convenient scenic drives to get an overview of Canyonlands' geography. Needles District has much to offer, but requires a longer drive from Moab. The Maze District is the most remote, requiring 4WD to even think about entering and exploring.
